  Portrait of George MacDonald drawn by Edward Hughes, Arthur Hughes' nephew, who was engaged to George's daughter Mary. The portrait was drawn in 1886 and published in "the Sphere" in 1905. The original, at one stage, was owned by Greville MacDonald.

  The artist was William Waddy and it comes from a book called 'Cartoon portraits and biographical sketches of men of the day,' published London, in 1873. They originally appeared in "Once a Week" New Series, Volume 9, January to June 1872.
